We have become aware of a new tactic being used by hackers to try and get hold of your people’s personal details.

The tactic involves sending out an email with a OneDrive sharing link in it. The sharing link typically takes you to a PDF file that contains a second link to either a fake login page designed to steal the user’s credentials or to a virus or malware.

Unfortunately, these emails are able to pass straight through filters as they are being sent from legitimate Office 365 accounts.

Please be vigilant and if you receive any emails with a sharing link in them, check that they are genuine before opening them.

With two major universities’ IT systems being compromised this week, hacking attempts appear to be on the rise. This particular technique also shows how cybercriminals are finding more and more sophisticated ways to get hold of your personal details.

If you ever need advice or a second opinion, do not hesitate to get in touch with the team here at Coretek and we will be very happy to help.
